Anonymous asked: A journalism major that has no idea what he's talking about! Phil Hughes has been excellent in the starting rotation...

I’m talking about two players, around the same age, in comparison with each other. Gonzalez has been great since 2010, and Hughes has been shaky (as a starter) ever since he got injured in the midst of a no-hitter at Texas way back when. He’s been good for us and got the win, I’m happy of course, but just because I’m a fan doesn’t mean I’ll never say anything negative, and this is hardly even that.

Talking about the two pitchers, if anything, is more of a reference to how the Yankees seem to poorly handle or have bad luck with youngsters. We screwed up Joba Chamberlain, we haven’t gotten the best out of Hughes since he was a set-up man, and the other prodigy we had in Ian Kennedy was disappointing until he left New York, then all of the sudden he became an All-Star in Arizona.

So, once again, as a fan, I’m lamenting the fact that with other teams, their breeding of young talent seems to always go much smoother than it does with the Yankees, and the facts back it up.

Thanks for messaging, hope I made my opinion clear.

As I watch Gio Gonzalez pitch, I just get jealous of how these teams always find these young, great, & cheap starters.

and then I look at Hughes and remember he was supposed to be that.

Deadline Dilemma

It just might be time for the Yankees to go all in at the trade deadline

Saturday was nearly perfect for the Yankees. They beat the Orioles 8-3 in the first game of a double header, and as if they were unsatisfied by a 5-run win, they pounded the O’s pitchers to score 17 in the night cap. And hey, the Red Sox even lost.

The simple fact of the matter is however, the Yankees ambitions do not lie in beating a dead horse orioles team at home in Yankee Stadium. They lie in beating beating Boston at Fenway Park in the ALCS.

To make that more of a possibility, they have some work left to do.
